American Montessori Society Pathway of Continuous Learning

At Woodland, we are committed to a journey of continuous learning and improvement through the American Montessori Society's Pathway of Continuous School Improvement. This framework helps Montessori schools like ours evaluate and enhance the quality of our programs over time.

The Pathway consists of four stages, each representing a different level of commitment and growth in implementing Montessori principles. Schools move through these stages by focusing on the five core components of Montessori education:

  1. Prepared Environment – A classroom designed to encourage independence and self-directed learning.

  2. Montessori Materials – Hands-on tools that help children explore and discover concepts in a meaningful way.

  3. Montessori Teachers – Educators trained to guide students in their learning, fostering a supportive and nurturing environment.

  4. Montessori Philosophy – A commitment to the core values of respect, independence, and holistic development for each child.

  5. Ongoing Evaluation – Regular assessments to ensure we are meeting the needs of both the children and the program.

By being part of this Pathway, we are continuously improving and refining our Montessori program to provide the best possible educational experience for your children.

AMS offers many family opportunities and learning; such as a monthly AMS Family Connection Newsletter for families of AMS member schools.

This digital and printable publication includes articles on topics such as Montessori philosophy, Montessori tips for the home, a peek inside the Montessori classroom, and more!
